Abstract
An account of "Section S.S.U. 583" of the 165th French Infantry Division, which was largely composed of Iowans, including students from the University of Iowa, Drake and Grinnell Colleges. The men joined the unit in June 1917. Section 583 drove ambulances from March-November 1918. The account comes from a diary kept during their two-year existence as a unit.
