The only known copy of the review is this one, now in the Trent Collection ofWalt Whitman Manuscripts, Duke University Rare Book, Manuscript, and SpecialCollections Library (reproduced with permission). Whitman pasted the review on asheet of paper and made notations on it. He often preserved and annotated reviewsas he prepared to reprint them elsewhere as part of his never-ending campaign topromote Leaves.
