Abstract

Presents two previously unpublished Whitman letters-one a letter to ornithologist Thomas G. Gentry, the other to Iowa historian and editor Charles Aldrich-and provides backgrounds on these two men, shedding light on their appreciation of Whitman and Whitman's ambivalent attitudes towards them.
