Songs of the Canons: Song of Solomon and "Song of Myself"

Abstract

Argues for the influence of Song of Solomon in particular and the Old Testament in general on Whitman's poetry, especially "Song of Myself"; contends that Whitman reveals "no real heresy, but rather a return to a more authentic scriptural view of love."
