Abstract

Examines William Michael Rossetti's editorial influence on the "Drum-Taps" cluster in Leaves of Grass and details arrangements of Whitman's Civil War poems by Whitman and Rossetti, arguing that the sequence, "as ultimately presented to the world by Whitman, owes its essential structure and meaning to Rossetti's editorial pioneering of 1868."
