Abstract
Describes the origin and reception of Camden's Compliment to Walt Whitman, an 1889 appreciation of Whitman edited by Horace Traubel to commemorate the poet's seventieth birthday and containing "a combination of eulogistic propaganda and personal letters" celebrating the life and work of the poet.
