About this journal

Synthesis (ISSN 2643-8410 (online)) publishes student science communication. Many of the works we publish document community engagement projects that bring science to the public. Others describe student researchers’ own scientific work. All works represent students' efforts to experiment with science communication in order to reach audiences beyond the scientific community. The journal is published by the University of Iowa as a joint effort of the Latham Science Engagement Initiative, the Digital Scholarship and Publishing Studio.

Philosophy of the digital journal of Synthesis

The philosophy of Synthesis is to provide free access to work in science communication. We are dedicated to supporting work that implements science engagement. We are committed to working with students through media revisions to result in a strong publication.

Submissions Welcome

Submissions of student science communication are invited between November and March to https://pubs.lib.uiowa.edu/synthesis/submissions/. Questions may be directed to UI-ISA@uiowa.edu.
