This comic book vividly portrays the unique abilities of MUC5AC and MUC5B, two indispensable mucins that collaborate to safeguard the human respiratory system through mucociliary clearance (MCC). In the dynamic microenvironment of the airways, readers are introduced to these mucins as superheroes. MUC5AC, with its elastic structure, is a master at ensnaring pathogens, while MUC5B, with its strength and stability, fortifies the mucus network for effective clearance.
