Journal Policies

Open Access Statement

This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or their institution; there is no embargo period. The journal allows readers to read, download, print, search, or link to the full texts of its articles, without registering or asking prior permission from the copyright holder. Any other use, including distributing non-commercially, must be approved by the author, unless such use is allowed by a license.

Who Can Submit?

Anyone may submit an original article to be considered for publication in Proceedings in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Publication Ethics

Submissions should clearly indicate author contributions, conflicts of interest, consent from institutional review boards, and consent from patients. Plagiarism and fabrication of data will not be acceptable. Proceedings in Obstetrics and Gynecology (POG) strives to follow COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) core practices and guidelines.

Author Charges

There are no article submission charges nor article processing charges (APC) to publish.

General Submission Rules

Submissions should be in English (US spelling), English language editing may be required before a manuscript is accepted for the review process. Quotations may be printed in languages other than English, but translations should be provided. Submissions should be 5-15 pages in length. Case studies should be 3-6 pages long. Plagiarism is not acceptable.

By submitting material to Proceedings in Obstetrics and Gynecology, the author is stipulating that the material has not been previously published, is not currently under review at another journal, and that the material will not be submitted to another journal until the completion of the editorial decision process at Proceedings in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Please note: "publication" in a working-paper series or an institutional or disciplinary repository does not constitute prior publication. Questions about the submission terms can be addressed by contacting the editors.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any material in which they do not own copyright, to be used in print and electronic media and for ensuring that the appropriate acknowledgements are included in their manuscript. Prior to publication authors must clear the necessary reproduction rights for any images, photos, figures, music, or content credited to a third party that they wish to use, which fall outside of the fair use provisions described in U.S. copyright law. We request that our authors seek nonexclusive, worldwide rights in all formats and media, for one-time use from the rights holder of the material to be used. Upon submission, authors agree that the material does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of third parties.

Formatting Requirements for Initial Submission

Proceedings in Obstetrics and Gynecology requests that authors follow the Instructions for Authors and Preparing a Manuscript for Submission to a Biomedical Journal. Authors should also refer to the AMA Manual of Style and NLM's style guide for authors, editors and publishers.

Financial Disclosure

Any author who has a financial involvement with any organization or entity with a financial interest in or in financial competition with the subject matter or materials discussed in the manuscript should disclose that affiliation. Examples of financial involvement include employment, stock holdings (≥ $10,000 or ≥ 5% equity interest in a company), consultancies, financial support of research through grants or contracts, participation in a speakers bureau, provision of expert testimony, or receipt of honoraria. All authors should prepare a statement revealing any such financial affiliations and include it with the manuscript submission. The manuscript should also clearly identify the financial support of the research described in the currently submitted manuscript.

Human Research

All human studies must contain a statement within the Methods section of the article indicating that the study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board and that participants have signed written informed consent or that the Institutional Review Board has waived the need for informed consent.

PubMedCentral Repository Requirement for NIH-Funded Research

The National Institutes of Health requires all articles stemming from NIH-funded research to be submitted to the PubMedCentral repository within a year of publication. Without the PubMedCentral ID (PMCID) number, the article will not be counted as evidence of progress on progress reports for NIH grants. For more information on this policy, see http://publicaccess.nih.gov.

Manuscript Review Policy

Manuscripts will have an anonymized review by at least two scholars. Every effort will be made to notify authors within 90 days of submission concerning the reviewers' recommendations and comments. Proceedings in Obstetrics and Gynecology has no page charges.

Rights for Authors and Proceedings in Obstetrics and Gynecology

Proceedings in Obstetrics and Gynecology applies Creative Commons licenses to all works we publish. Current submissions all use CC-BY-4.0. Under the license, authors retain ownership of the copyright for their article, but authors allow anyone to download, distribute, and/or copy articles in the journal, so long as the original authors and source are cited.

The author may include the officially published version of the article (version of record) in an institutional or disciplinary repository, provided the posting includes a prominent statement of the full bibliographical details, and a link to the online edition of the journal.

Attribution and Usage Policies

No permission is required from the authors or the publishers for usage compliant with the terms of the Creative Commons license. For any reuse or redistribution of a work, you must also make clear the license terms under which the work was published, in addition to citation of the original authors and source.
