Abstract

This is an introduction of the study and doctoral dissertation of Asavari Thatte. The introduction positions the story of Totto-chan, the young protagonist of a book which takes place in Japan during World War II, with Asavari Thatte’s dissertation about the Learning Home, a non-profit school in India. Through narrative inquiry, the study encourages readers to consider lived experiences and embodied pursuits of learning at the Learning Home through interconnected relationships of curriculum, place, and design.
